FAQ’s

Are J&J Tortillas organic?

Yes! J&J Tortilla Co. is USDA Certified Organic. We also have a conventional option in which standard unbleached flour is used, available in White (regular and large size).

Are your tortillas non-gmo?

Yes! All of our tortillas are non-GMO. Although we are not 3rd party non-GMO verified, we do not use any GMO ingredients in our tortillas. And just as a reminder, organic = non-GMO. Also, all wheat and ancient grains, whether organic or conventional, are non-GMO.

What is the shelf life of your tortillas?

First off, our tortillas are truly preservative FREE and therefore, authentic. Our tortillas will keep best in refrigeration and will be good for 21 days in refrigeration. Upon purchasing our tortillas, they will always be best if consumed sooner (within the 1st week), rather than later. If later might be the case, our tortillas can be frozen!

Can your tortillas be stored in the freezer?

Yes! Our tortillas keep very well in the freezer! We would definitely recommend storing them in the freezer if you do not consume them right away! Just be careful handling them when taking them out of the freezer, as they are thin and can crack, especially on the edges. For individual consumption, you may put pieces of wax or parchment (or whatever else may work!) in between the tortillas.

What is the best way to prepare your tortillas?

Slightly warming our tortillas and thus softening them will work wonders! Some prefer the microwave, on the stove top in a pan, or our favorite - laying them directly on the grate over a gas burner and charring them ever so slightly! Flip on both sides and remember - be careful not to overheat them, as this will dry them out.

What can your tortillas be used for? only as a taco or burrito?

Absolutely not! Tortillas are probably one of the most versatile food items in existence today. We encourage you to use your creative minds to explore the different ways a J&J tortilla may be used! We have heard many stories from our customers and if you have an idea, please share it with us! Tortillas make an incredible substitute to standard sliced bread, as a “wrap”. For those keeping an eye on the amount of carbs being consumed, a wrap would fare less versus a sandwich, as you’re using one slice, not two! Visit our Recipe tab for a few ideas.

Some ideas, to name a few: quesadillas, personal pizza, sandwich wrap, garlic bread (yum!), p&j, pin wheels, shawarmas, dip in hummus, etc!
